Jamshedpur, Jan 15: Two youths were injured, one of them seriously as four bike-borne criminals launched a gun-shot attack on them in Jugsalai in the wee hours on Monday.

Identified as Mohammed Majeed and Mahfouz Alam, the victims have been admitted to Tata Main Hospital.

While Majeed has sustained injuries in the waist and right hand, Mahfouz sustained the injury in his left palm.

The gun-shot attack took place at Murgi Chowk in Jugsalai at about 1.00 am while Majeed who is a resident of Jugsalai was on his way to Mango to drop his friend Mahfouz at his house in Mango.

Six rounds fired

According to police, Majeed and Mahfouz enjoyed a party at a friend’s house in Mararpara in Jugsalai. As Mahfouz had no vehicle, Majeed was going to drop the latter at his house in Jawahar Nagar in Mango. But as the two were negotiating Murgi Chowk, four bike-borne criminals intercepted them there.

As the four criminals were known to Majeed, one of them identified as Mohammed Vicky had started talking to him and soon the talk turned into an altercation. Soon after Mohammed Vicky had fished out a pistol and fired as many as six rounds of shots targeting the duo.

Having made the gun-shot attack, the four sped away towards the Tatanagar station area.

Police have identified the four assailants

It is learned that Majeed has an old tyre shop at Jugsalai and Mohammed Vicky had recently tried to extort money from him, having threatened him to face dire consequences if failed to meet the demand.

According to police, the rest three accused involved in the shootout were identified as Mohammed Altmas, Mohammed Sabbo and Mujahid Khan.

The police are trying to arrest the four who are absconding.
