VAISHNAVI SWADHA

Y-O-U-T-H, the power that these five letters hold is unprecedented. When tapped judiciously and complemented with meticulous guidance, the calibre of young prodigies can help bring about colossal transformations in society, propelling humanity towards a more promising tomorrow.

Young changemaker’s programme

With this vision in mind, five shortlisted candidates from Delhi Public School, Ranchi, of which I too was a part, got the opportunity to participate in the second edition of THE YOUNG CHANGEMAKER’S PROGRAMME (YCP), a rural immersion bootcamp  held between 21st and 24th of December, 2023, wherein 80 trailblazing students from 6 countries and 20 Indian states had been convened to co-pilot feasible remedies for the people of Rasabeda, a remote village grappled in a forested elephant corridor, in Jharkhand.

Learning curve

Marked by myriad exciting affairs, this 4-day learning curve was the epitome of what the present-day education system should be like. From conducting numerous interactive and insightful ‘impact-talk sessions’ by esteemed professors and experienced dignitaries from diverse crafts to rural visits, ‘empathy lab’ theatre contests and solution-presentation rounds, YCP beautifully fostered amongst the participants a quest for knowledge and a zeal to work for the under-privileged, besides acquainting them with the dynamics of teamwork.

Sense of service

Such initiatives not only play a crucial role in instilling in the students a sense of service but also brace the young brains for the brutalities of the professional world, and we are grateful to Delhi Public School, Ranchi, for constantly introducing its tutees to such opportunities, enabling them to soar higher.
