Jamshedpur, Jan 30: The court of District and Sessions judge, Chaibasa on Tuesday sentenced a 35-year-old man to capital punishment for killing a co-villager under the Goelkera Thana area in West Singhbhum district in September 2019.
Apart from the death penalty, the court has slapped a fine of Rs 1 lakh on the convict identified as Saluka Hembram who continued to be lodged ever since he was arrested in the case.
A resident of Arahasa village in Goelkera, the murder victim Ramdhan Hembram was sitting along with his minor son on September 11 evening, having finished his agricultural work.

Incidentally, Saluka Hembram who resides in the same village arrived at his house and had an altercation with the victim over something.
But suddenly Saluka turned aggressive and picked up a vasuli and started hitting the head of Ramdhan, causing him to die instantly.
Having murdered Ramdhan (40), the assailant fled the spot and absconded. The family members of the murder victim had informed the police, leading the latter to swing into action and arrest the assailant soon.
The court has pronounced the death penalty in pursuance of the charge under Section 302 of the IPC.
