Bijapur, July 18: In the Naxal-affected Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh, Naxalites detonated an explosive device. In this blast, two Special Task Force (STF) personnel, Bharat Sahu and Satyer Singh Kange, were martyred, while four other personnel were reported injured.

After receiving information about the incident, additional security forces were dispatched to the area. The security forces recovered the bodies of the martyred soldiers and evacuated the injured personnel from the site.

Following this, the injured were taken to Bijapur district hospital and given first aid. The operation against the Naxalites in the region is ongoing.

Naxals detonated landmine when joint team was returning

According to officials, the presence of Naxalites from Darbha Division, West Bastar Division and Military Company Number Two was reported in the border areas of Bijapur, Dantewada and Sukma districts.

After this, on July 16, a joint team of STF, DRG and CoBRA Battalion of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) was sent from these districts for anti-Naxal operation.

When the joint team was returning after completing the operation, the Naxalites detonated a landmine in the Tarrem area of ​​​​Bijapur district late on Wednesday night. Two STF jawans were martyred in this while four jawans were injured.
