New Delhi, June 26: A Delhi court on Wednesday granted permission to the CBI to formally arrest Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in connection with the alleged excise scam/ liquor scam.
Special Judge Amitabh Rawat passed the order, and the CBI subsequently arrested Kejriwal.
The central probe agency filed the application after the AAP leader was brought before the court from Tihar Central Jail.
The court also instructed the CBI to present the material they have to justify his arrest.

Throughout the hearing, Kejriwal’s wife, Sunita Kejriwal, AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh, and AAP leader Dilip Pandey were also present in the courtroom.
CBI’s Special Public Prosecutor DP Singh presented extensive arguments and contested the submissions made by Kejriwal’s lawyer.
Earlier on Tuesday, Kejriwal faced a setback from the Delhi High Court as it cancelled the lower court’s decision of granting bail to him.
The High Court said that the subordinate court did not use its mind while granting bail to Arvind Kejriwal in the money laundering case.
Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested CM Arvind Kejriwal on March 21.
