New Delhi, Feb 3: A team of Crime Branch officers from the Delhi Police visited the home of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the national capital on Saturday.

In response to the Aam Aadmi Party’s accusations that the Bharatiya Janata Party is “trying to buy AAP MLAs,” the Delhi Police arrived to give the chief minister a notice.

However, sources within Chief Minister Kejriwal’s office asserted that although his office is prepared to receive the notice, the officials of the crime branch of the Delhi Police are not providing him with a receiving note for it.

The sources additionally asserted that the Delhi Police had accompanied media teams with the apparent intention of creating a spectacle and tarnishing the Chief Minister’s image.

On the preceding Friday, besides approaching Kejriwal, the police officials, in search of evidence, also visited the residence of AAP minister Atishi. Nevertheless, according to sources, neither of the AAP leaders was at their homes during the visits.

Through an operation known as “Operation Lotus 2.0,” the Aam Aadmi Party has said that the BJP is attempting to overthrow the elected Delhi government.

The MLA poaching case

On Jan 27, Arvind Kejriwal claimed that the BJP is involved in a conspiracy to overthrow the Aam Aadmi Party government. He further asserted that certain members of his party were tempted with bribes to defect and destabilize his government.

On the social media platform X, Arvind Kejriwal stated, “Recently, they (BJP) have contacted our 7 MLAs from Delhi and said-We will arrest Kejriwal after a few days. After that, we will break the MLAs. Talks have been held with 21 MLAs. Talking to others as well. After that, we will topple the Aam Aadmi Party government in Delhi. You also come, we will give you Rs 25 crore and get you to contest the elections on BJP ticket.”

“Although they claim that they have contacted 21 MLAs, but as per our information, they have contacted only 7 MLAs so far and all of them have refused,” he stated.

Last week, prominent AAP leader Atishi said during a press conference that the BJP had threatened and offered bribes to a number of AAP MLAs in an attempt to force them to defect.

“BJP has started ‘Operation Lotus 2.0’, and is trying to topple the democratically elected AAP government in Delhi. 7 MLAs of the AAP have been contacted by the BJP, and have been told, that Arvind Kejriwal will be arrested soon, after which AAP MLAs will be rifted apart. They are in touch with 21 of our MLAs, using whom they aim to topple the Delhi government. Those 7 MLAs have been offered Rs 25 crores each… Operation Lotus is the tactic used by the BJP to come into power in states, where they are not democratically elected… Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka, Arunachal Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh are examples,” Atishi stated.

“In Delhi, they are going to our MLAs and saying that Kejriwal is going to go to jail and then we will call all the MLAs to ourselves and form the BJP government in Delhi, but I want to say that the Aam Aadmi Party is not afraid. Not a single MLA is afraid,” she further stated.
