Dhanbad, Dec 19: Federation of Universities Teachers Association of Jharkhand (FUTAJ) outgoing president Dr Navin Kumar Singh (Dumka), general secretary Dr Raj Kumar (Ranchi) and other office bearers of the state body would be observers in the Binod Bihari Mahto Koylanchal University Teachers Association (BBMKUTA) poll to be held tomorrow.

FUTAJ general secretary Dr Raj Kumar said that the state body’s observers would be present during the election in Dhanbad on December 20.

Three booths for polling

Meanwhile, chief election officer Dr SKL Das and coordinator Dr KM Singh said that all arrangements have been completed for polling tomorrow. Three booths have been set up on the campus of the university. The voting will be conducted from 9 am to 2 pm and the counting will start from 3 pm.

“Two members of the election committee would be deployed at each booth. A team has also been selected for counting of votes,” said Dr Das and Dr Singh jointly.

A total of 173 regular teachers of 13 constituent colleges and post-graduate departments of the university would cast their vote in the election.

Voting for V-P post only

The election committee officers said the election would be held only for five posts of vice-president. There are a total of 13 posts in BBMKUTA in which the president, general secretary, treasurer and five secretaries have already been elected unopposed as no second candidate filed a nomination.

For five vice-president posts, six candidates Dr Anamika Kujur (RSP College Jharia), Dr  Ram Pravesh Kumar (Chas College ), Dr  Manohar Majhi (KB College Bermo), Dr Sarmistha Acharyya (Sindri College ), Dr Kirum Rashmi Topno (PK  Roy Memorial College) Dr Avinash Kumar (RS More College Govindpur) are in race.

In the first election of  BBMKUTA held in 2018 election was held for all posts. Dr Himanshu Shekhar Choudhary was elected general secretary with heavy votes while Dr RK Tiwary from Bokaro Steel City College was elected president.

In the 2013, Vinoba Bhave University (VBU) Hazaribagh Teachers Association poll (at that time BBMKU had not been formed) three candidates from Dhanbad Dr BN Singh, Dr Sarita Srivastava and Dr Vijay Kumar Singh had contested for the post of general secretary. In voting Dr BN Singh was elected.
