DPS girls clinch all team titles at 12th Ranchi Inter-School Badminton Championship

Ranchi, May 3: Girls from Delhi Public School (DPS) asserted their dominance by winning the team titles in all categories—Under-14, Under-17, and Under-19—at the 12th Ranchi District Inter-School Badminton Championship.

In the Under-19 girls’ final, the DPS B team defeated the DPS A team, while ODM Sapphire Global School secured third place. In the Under-17 final, DPS triumphed over Cluny Convent School, with Sarla Birla Public School finishing third. DPS also claimed the Under-14 girls’ team title.

Cluny Convent, Don Bosco, DAV Gandhi Nagar Shine in Boys’ Team Events

Cluny Convent School emerged champions in the Under-19 boys’ category by defeating Sarla Birla Public School. Delhi Public School and Surendranath Centenary School shared third place.

In the Under-17 boys’ final, Don Bosco School clinched the title after defeating DAV Gandhi Nagar (Team A). DAV Gandhi Nagar (Team B) and St. Thomas School secured joint third positions. DAV Gandhi Nagar also claimed the Under-14 boys’ title, beating Sharda Global School in the final. ODM Sapphire Global School and Cluny Convent School bowed out in the semifinals.

Shraddha Sinha Clinches Two Singles Crowns

Shraddha Sinha of DAV Gandhi Nagar delivered a standout performance, winning both the Under-19 and Under-17 girls’ singles titles. She defeated Shrestha Vidyarthi of DPS in the Under-19 final and Sanjana Gupta, also of DPS, in the Under-17 final.

In the Under-19 singles, Sanjana Gupta and Bhoomi of JNHSS shared third place. In the Under-17 singles, Aprajita Sharma (JVM) and Akshata Paridhan (BWGSN) secured joint third positions.

In the Under-14 girls’ singles final, Vaanya Khanna of Loreto Convent clinched the title by defeating Shrishti Rana of St. Anthony’s. Yashvi Choudhary of DPS and Akshata Pandian were the joint third-place finishers.

Boys’ Singles Titles Spread Across Schools

In the Under-19 boys’ singles final, Manas Ranjan of Springdale Public School beat Vihan Kisku of JVM to win the title. Anggaraaj Konwar (DAV Gandhi Nagar) and Moksha Lalit Kejriwal (SCS) shared third place.

In the Under-17 category, Jimmy Geral Ekka of Don Bosco defeated Manas Ranjan to win the final. Dhairya Kumar Sahu and Vidhan Kisku (JVM) finished in joint third place.

Tanmay Kumar of DAV Gandhi Nagar won the Under-14 boys’ singles title by defeating Aarav Mishra in the final, while Godwin Ekka claimed third place.

Prize Ceremony

The prize distribution ceremony was graced by chief guests Sunil Sahay and IAS officer Sunil Kumar, who handed out trophies and medals to the winners.

According to Ranchi District Badminton Association Secretary N.K. Dey, over 250 boys and girls from various schools took part in the championship, making it a vibrant and competitive event.
