Eight state quota seats vacant in four Jharkhand medical colleges

Dhanbad, Oct 7: The completion of the second round of counselling for MBBS admissions has resulted in eight vacant seats of the state quota across four medical colleges, as of October 5.

Three seats remain unfilled at Medinirai Medical College Hospital (MMCH) Palamu, while two seats are vacant at both Phulo Jhanho Medical College Hospital (PJMCH) Dumka and Sheikh Bhikhari Medical College Hospital (SBMCH) Hazaribagh. Additionally, one seat is available at Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital (SNMMCH) Dhanbad.

Dr. Diwakar Hasda, principal of Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College Hospital (MGMMCH), confirmed that all 83 MBBS seats designated for the state quota in his institution were filled during the second counselling session.

Each of the five medical colleges in the state has permission to admit 100 MBBS students, with 83 seats reserved for the state quota, 15 for the all-India quota, and two for central government nominees.

SNMMCH Dhanbad admissions update

Dr. Ganesh Kumar, the admission in-charge at SNMMCH Dhanbad, noted that admissions were completed for a total of 93 seats, including 82 in the state quota, 10 in the all-India quota, and one for central nominees. He stated, “Only 7 seats—one in state quota, five in all-India quota, and one in central nominees—are vacant.”

PJMCH Dumka and SBMCH Hazaribagh updates

At PJMCH Dumka, only two seats from the state quota remain unfilled. Principal Dr. Arun Kumar Choudhary reported that admissions were made for 81 seats under the state quota during the second round. Additionally, 10 students from the all-India quota and one central government nominee secured admission.

Currently, there are eight vacant seats, comprising five from the all-India quota, two from the state quota, and one from the central government nominee.

In SBMCH Hazaribagh, two seats of the state quota are still vacant after the second counselling round. Principal Dr. SK Singh stated that a total of nine seats remain unfilled. “81 took admission in state quota, 8 in all-India quota, and all 2 of central nominees took admission. Seven seats of all-India quota and two seats of state quota are vacant.”

MMCH Palamu admission status

Following the second counselling round, MMCH Palamu has filled 80 seats of the state quota. Admission in-charge Dr. Atul Prakash noted that nine students from the all-India quota also gained admission. “Now total 11 MBBS seats are vacant, including three state quota, six all-India seats, and both central government nominee seats.”

The third counselling session for the all-India quota is scheduled to take place from October 12 to 18.
