New Delhi, July 10: Former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) minister Raaj Kumar Anand joined the Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday in New Delhi.
Upon joining the BJP he took aim at AAP Chief and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, stating that he had asked Kejriwal to work for the welfare of Dalits, but his requests were ignored.
Virendra Sachdeva, the president of the Delhi BJP, and Arun Singh, the national general secretary, welcomed him into the party.

Anand while addressing the media expressed his gratitude to the BJP for the opportunity to join the party, stating that he is committed to working for the welfare of everyone, especially the Dalit community to which he belongs.

Anand stated that he feels a responsibility to give back to society. He explained that he had asked Arvind Kejriwal to focus on Dalit welfare, but his requests were repeatedly denied, which ultimately led to his resignation from the ministerial position.
He also criticized the fact that, despite the allocation of funds for Dalit welfare through the SC/ST fund, crores of rupees have remained unutilized for the benefit of Dalits in Delhi over the past nine years.
Veena Anand, the wife of Raaj Kumar Anand, also joined the BJP along with other leaders.
In April, Anand resigned from AAP and his ministerial role in Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s cabinet, citing corruption within the party. He subsequently joined the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) to run in the Lok Sabha elections.
