He took charge from acting vice-chancellor Dr Pawan Kumar Poddar (pro vice-chancellor).
The post of BBMKU vice-chancellor had been vacant since October 13, 2023, after the Governor (Chancellor) sacked Dr Sukdeo Bhoi on corruption charges. Dr Bhoi lived on the post for merely 16 months. He joined on June 26, 2022, and was sacked on October 13, 2023.
Dr Anjani Kumar Srivastava was the first vice-chancellor of BBMKU who completed his three-year tenure. BBMKU was set up in 2017.

Teachers’ body expresses high hope
BBMKU Teachers Association held a meeting and while welcoming the new vice-chancellor Dr Ram Kumar Singh expressed hope that the university as well as teachers’ development will touch new heights under his administration.
Dr Amulya Suman Beck, BBMKUTA general secretary said that the teachers body will extend full support to the new vice-chancellor in running the university and implementing the academic programme.
“After getting time, the teachers’ body will organize a grand function to felicitate the new vice-chancellor soon”, said Dr Beck.
The move of the teachers’ body keeps significance as it had no cordial relation with sacked vice-chancellor Dr Sukdeo Bhoi who used to get the gate of post graduate (PG) department locked from 9.30 am to 4.30 PM daily.
BBMKUTA general secretary Dr Beck said that since he is a scholar we would also make the new VC aware of the long pending demands of teachers and other burning problems being faced by faculty members of the university as well as colleges.
“But same time we will also alert the new VC to keep flatters away as they have caused massive damage to 7-year-old university by misguiding the top brass”, said general secretary Dr Amulya Suman Beck.
