Jamshedpur, Oct 27: A 40-year-old man who was a land broker was shot dead by two gunmen at his house in Chandrapur under the Seraikela thana area in the Seraikela-Kharsawan district, about 35 km away from here late on Thursday night.

Identified as Javed Akhtar, the gunshot victim was rushed by his family members to Tata Main Hospital where he was declared as brought dead.

Love affair

Javed who would also run a ‘dhaba’ near his house is said to have been killed in a sequel to a love affair.

A police officer on condition of anonymity revealed that despite being already married the murder victim had trapped a girl whom he wanted to marry.

Extramarital affair of the victim

According to the police officer, the extramarital affair of the man is suspected to be the reason behind his murder.

After the murder, tension gripped the Chandrapur area leading the police to deploy additional police forces there.

The OC, Seraikela Thana, Satish Kumar said to have collected two empty cartridges from the spot, suggesting that the assailants had fired two shots at the victim.

“We are trying to get the reason behind the murder ascertained. We are also trying to detect the assailants, ” said the officer-in-charge while talking to The Jharkhand Story.

Kumar, when queried, said the reason behind the murder may be enmity over land brokerage or something else.
