Jharkhand News: 11 offshore alumni of BIT Sindri to attend Platinum Jubilee seminar

Dhanbad, July 10: A total of 11 distinguished alumni of BIT Sindri, who have settled outside the country, will attend the three-day Platinum Jubilee celebration seminar of the institution.

Giving this information BIT Sindri Alumni Association secretary Sweta Kumari (DIG Registration, Jharkhand) said that so far a total of 222 alumni from the 1959 batch to the 2019 batch including 11 foreign-based former students have confirmed their participation individually or with family.

“Three-day Platinum Jubilee celebration will be organized from November 15 to 17 this year”, said secretary Sweta Kumari. State government owned BIT Sindri was set up in 1949.

Anil Kumar Singh (metallurgy engineering) of Ranchi, Prabhat Sinha (chemical engineering) from the USA and Shambu Prasad (metallurgy engineering) from Ranchi are the oldest 1959 batch students who will participate.

Besides them, three alumni of the 1960 batch DR Anil Singh, Dr Abhay Nath Jha and Janardan Pandey are participating.

The offshore alumni who have confirmed attending the three-day function are Prabhat Sinha (1959 batch) from Norfolk, Virginia, USA,  Dr Anil Singh (1960 metallurgical engineering batch) of California, USA, Pramod Kumar Mishra (1978 production engineering batch) of Michigan, USA, Dr Awadhesh Prasad (1980 civil engineering batch) of  Australia, Srinarayan Singh (1982  mechanical engineering batch) of York City, UK.

Besides them, other foreign-based alumni who have confirmed their participation are Shitanshu Shekhar (1984 metallurgy engineering batch) of Boston, USA, Ashutosh Dutta (1985 production engineering) of Toronto, Canada, Vishal Sharan (1993 mechanical engineering batch) of Baltimore, USA, Niraj Ranjan Sharma (1993 electrical engineering batch) of Singapore, Pramod Kumar Ranjan (1997 mining engineering batch) of Booragoon, Western Australia, Abhinav Verma (2009 electrical engineering batch) of Copenhagen, Denmark.

In the wake of the Platinum Jubilee celebration BIT Sindri Alumni Association has already resolved to hold 75  events in the country and abroad till November 2024 to mark the auspicious occasion. Since November 2023 Association has held several programmes at BIT Sindri and other places in the country.

Besides the Alumni Association, all departments of BIT Sindri have been holding national and international programmes separately to mark the Platinum Jubilee of the institution.
