New Delhi, June 19: Ahead of the state assembly elections, Congress suffered a significant setback as prominent Haryana Congress leaders Kiran Choudhry and her daughter Shruti Choudhry joined the Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday.
Both leaders officially joined the BJP at a ceremony held at the party headquarters in New Delhi. The event was attended by Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, former CM and Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, and BJP’s National General Secretary Tarun Chugh.
After joining the BJP, Kiran Choudhry reflected on her decision, citing the Prime Minister’s vision for a developed India by 2047 as her motivation. She expressed confidence in India’s potential on the global stage, attributing the BJP’s third consecutive government at the Centre to the Prime Minister’s welfare initiatives.

Choudhry acknowledged her past differences with Khattar ji, noting that despite previous bitterness, his work ethic and dedication have served as her inspiration.
Kiran Choudhry’s connection to former Haryana chief minister Bansi Lal is noteworthy as she is his daughter-in-law.
Kiran’s daughter Shruti, who also joined the BJP, stated that they would focus on enhancing both the nation and the state.
Shruti Choudhry, upon joining the BJP, spoke about the Prime Minister’s impactful decisions that have enhanced India’s global standing. She expressed admiration for Khattar’s leadership and highlighted the pride in Modi and Khattar’s association with Chaudhary Bansi Lal.
Shruti emphasized their commitment to follow Bansi Lal’s legacy of hard work, stating that their decision to join the BJP is aimed at contributing to the development and strength of both the nation and the state.
