Ranchi, March 18: The Farming System Research Centre for Hill and Plateau Region (FSRCHPR), Ranchi under ICAR-Research Complex for Eastern Region, Patna is set to host the Kisan Samridhi Mela on March 19-20, 2025.

With the theme “Smart Farming for Sustainable Future,” the event aims to showcase cutting-edge agricultural technologies, scientific innovations, and resource-efficient practices to enhance the productivity and economic resilience of farmers in Jharkhand and the eastern region.

Agro-Industrial Exhibition

The event will feature an Agro-Industrial Exhibition, where leading agricultural companies, entrepreneurs, and ICAR institutions will present the latest farm technologies, machinery, and innovations.

Key focus areas include Integrated Farming Systems (IFS), Integrated Pest Management (IPM), Vegetable Seed Production, Nursery Raising, Mushroom Cultivation, and Water Conservation.

Farmer-Scientist Interactions and Field Visits

Farmers attending the mela will benefit from farmer-scientist interactions, live demonstrations, and field visits to research farms, offering them hands-on learning opportunities.

The initiative aligns with ICAR-RCER’s long-term vision of bridging the gap between scientific research and field adoption to improve livelihoods and ensure sustainable resource use.

Strengthening Agriculture in Jharkhand’s Hill and Plateau Regions

Since 1979, ICAR-RCER, FSRCHPR, Ranchi, has been implementing need-based agricultural interventions to support small and marginal farmers in Jharkhand.

In 2024, the institute initiated RKVY-funded projects worth ₹17.95 crores to promote precision farming, resource conservation, organic production, biodiversity conservation, soil-borne disease management, and value addition.

Remarks from Organizers and Stakeholders

Speaking about the significance of the upcoming mela, Dr. Anup Das, Director, ICAR-RCER, said, “The Kisan Samridhi Mela is an excellent platform for farmers to explore the latest agricultural technologies and best practices. Through participatory demonstrations and scientific interventions, we aim to empower farmers with innovative solutions that enhance productivity and income while ensuring environmental sustainability.” Dr. Das also added that improved farming practices for empowering tribal farmers in hill and plateau regions will be the focus of the event.

Dr. R. S. Pan, Head, FSRCHPR, Ranchi, remarked, “Jharkhand’s agriculture is dominated by small and marginal farmers, and our goal is to equip them with knowledge and tools to make farming more profitable and sustainable. By strengthening Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) and promoting integrated farming models, we can help them gain better market access and economic security.”

“The Kisan Samridhi Mela 2025 is expected to be a milestone event in Jharkhand’s agricultural transformation”, informed Sh. Umesh Kumar Mishra, Member Secretary, Media ICAR-RCER, Patna.
