Dhanbad, May 28: Prof. Shibayan Sarkar, Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, has been invited to Robert Gordon University (RGU), Aberdeen, Scotland, as part of the prestigious Global Scholar Research Exchange Programme.

According to IIT ISM officials, Prof. Sarkar will be visiting RGU from July 1 to July 31, 2025, under the university’s internally funded Research Excellence Grant. The initiative aims to strengthen international academic partnerships and foster collaborative research efforts.

During his month-long academic engagement, Prof. Sarkar will work alongside Prof. Mamdud Hossain of RGU on joint research grant proposals and co-authoring scholarly publications. He will also participate in a variety of academic activities, including university-wide lectures, interdisciplinary workshops, and knowledge-sharing forums.
Prof. Sarkar brings with him a robust academic background and deep research expertise. He holds a B.E. in Mechanical Engineering and an M.E. in Water Resources and Hydraulics Engineering from Jadavpur University, and a Ph.D. from IIT Roorkee.
His research focuses on hydraulic turbines, pipe networks, and water resources management, and he has published extensively in leading international journals and conferences.

Officials from IIT ISM noted that the Global Scholar Programme at RGU is designed to bring renowned scholars from across the world to contribute to the university’s academic ecosystem.
Selected scholars engage in collaborative research, thematic knowledge exchange, and interdisciplinary initiatives aimed at fostering global academic excellence.
