Jamshedpur, Nov 4: Tata Steel’s Art-in-Industry concluded today at the Centre for Excellence reinforcing the commitment of the company to fostering creativity and innovation within the industrial landscape.

T V Narendran, CEO and Managing Director, Tata Steel was the chief guest of the concluding ceremony which was attended by Chanakya Chaudhary, Vice President of Corporate Services and other dignitaries along with the distinguished artists who created and portrayed their art during the camp, which started on October 31.

Narendran said, “For several decades, Tata Steel has not only played an integral role in shaping India’s economic landscape, it has actively fostered the growth of the country’s artistic environment, establishing a connection between artists and art connoisseurs. The belief that art mirrors a nation’s ethos and heritage has driven Tata Steel’s passionate commitment to nurturing budding artists.”

During the programme, Narendran along with socialite Daisy Irani, Chanakya Chaudhary and Harish Bhatt (Brand Custodian, Tata Sons) also unveiled a book ‘The Steelman of India’ on the work and life of late Jamshed J Irani, former CEO and Managing Director, Tata Steel.

Notably, Art in Industry was conceptualised three decades ago in 1993. Considered to be the brainchild of  J J Irani, these camps have been a brilliant confluence of India’s artistic heritage and industrial innovation.

The theme of this edition was ‘Art for the Planet- Celebrating Diversity and Inspiring Change’. This is in keeping with the ethos of the Art in Industry camps, which were conceived to encourage inclusivity and diversity – be it gender, talent, experience, age or genre.

The eminent artists who participated in the camp included Dulari Devi, Chandra Bhattacharjee, R M Palaniappan, Saba Hasan, Madhuri Bhaduri, Viveek Sharma, Somenath Maity, Farhad Hussain, Trupti Dave, Rathin Kanji, Saroj Venkat Shyam, Sachin Sagare, Shanthamani Muddaiah, George Martin P J and Sohan Singh Billawria.

The past five days have seen several engaging social interactions, including art workshop for children, art therapy workshops and art sessions.

Art in Industry initiative has been a testament to Tata Steel’s commitment to fostering creativity and innovation within the industrial landscape.
