Dhanbad, Feb 28: BIT Sindri authorities, faculty members, body of former students have burst with joy following the appointment of its alumnus Ravindra Kumar as director (operation) of National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) Limited.

Ravindra Kumar, a 1984-88 batch mechanical engineering department student of BIT Sindri, joined NTPC Limited as a Graduate Engineer Trainee officer in 1989 and in February 2024 became director (operation) of the organization.

BIT authorities, including director Dr Pankaj Rai, Career Development Centre (CDC) chairman Dr Ghanshyam, head of different faculties and BIT Alumni Association office- bearers while congratulating  Ravindra Kumar for his outstanding assignment said that he has added a feather to cap of the institution’s Diamond Jubilee year.

“We are delighted that Ravindra Kumar has taken charge of his new role. His extensive knowledge and expertise in the power sector make him a valuable asset to the organization,” said Dr Ghanshyam.

The CDC chairman said that Ravindra Kumar has an impressive role in the development of the 1st Maitree Supercritical Power Project in Bangladesh and his successful tenure as Chief Technical Officer (CTO) of the Bangladesh India Friendship Power Company Limited (BIFPCL).

As CEO of Patratu Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited, Kumar played a pivotal role in expediting construction and erection activities,

“We take immense pride in acknowledging his association with such a renowned institution, as it further solidifies his commitment to continuous learning and professional growth,” said the BIT Alumni Association.

Senior faculty members of BIT Sindri, Dr Rajiv Verma, Dr BD Yadav, Dr Prakash Kumar, Dr Jitu Kujur,  Dr Vinit Shekhar, Dr BN Prasad, Dr Ramesh Kumar, Dr Jaydeo Mandal have congratulated Ravindra Kumar.

BIT Sindri Alumni Association president Amit Roy, vice-president Umesh Prasad Sah, secretary Sweta Kumari, joint secretary Kishore Yadav and Pawan Ojha, Treasurers Rajendra Murmu, executive members Binod Tulsyan, SS Garuyar. Lokesh Sahu have also congratulated Ravindra Kumar.
