Ranchi, Sept 8: The high-level committee, chaired by Jharkhand Chief Secretary Alka Tiwari, on Monday approved the creation of a new police sub-division in Mango, Jamshedpur, based on a proposal from the Department of Home, Jail and Disaster Management. The move aims to strengthen law and order management in the region.

Chief Secretary Tiwari also instructed the DGP to conduct a comprehensive assessment of all districts to evaluate their law enforcement needs. “This exercise will provide detailed data on crime trends, current resources, and additional requirements, ensuring better allocation of personnel and resources to prevent and control crime effectively,” she said.

Rising Need for Mango Police Sub-Division

Currently, East Singhbhum district has two police sub-divisions — Jamshedpur (Headquarters) and Patamda. However, with the increasing population, expanding area, and rising incidence of diverse crimes in the jurisdictions of the Outgrowth Police Stations Mango and Azadnagar, as well as Olidih Outpost, authorities felt the need for a dedicated police sub-division in Mango.

Home Secretary Vandana Dadel noted that the new sub-division will focus on tackling economic offenses, narcotics-related cases, and other criminal activities.

State DGP Anurag Gupta explained that the Mango Police Sub-Division will be carved out from the existing Jamshedpur (HQ) and Patamda sub-divisions, covering the jurisdictions of the Outgrowth Police Stations Mango, Azadnagar, and Olidih OP.

Committee Approval and Participation

The proposal was discussed and approved with inputs from Finance Secretary Prashant Kumar and Personnel Secretary Praveen Toppo regarding departmental matters.

The high-level committee meeting, chaired by the Chief Secretary, was attended by Revenue, Registration & Land Reforms Secretary Chandrashekhar, Rural Development Secretary K. Srinivasan, and IG Narendra Kumar Singh.

This development is expected to enhance law enforcement efficiency, improve resource allocation, and strengthen overall policing in the rapidly growing Mango area.
