Dumka, March 4: Deputy Commissioner A Dodde today handed over a cheque of Rs 10 lakh to the husband, Vinsut Boy Voda, of a gangraped Spanish woman under the victim compensation scheme.
Talking to the media, Dodde thanked the district judge for approving the award under the victim compensation scheme.
Victim compensation scheme
Under the victim compensation scheme, every state government, in coordination with the central government, prepares a scheme to provide funds for compensation to the victim or his dependents who have suffered loss or injury as a result of the crime and who require rehabilitation.

DC appreciates SP for the timely action
The DC said that we have been providing help to the victim- a couple for the last two days. He also appreciated SP Pitamber Singh Kherwar and his team’s timely action against the culprits. He assured the media to arrest the rest of the accused involved in committing a crime.
The DC said we would appeal to the judiciary for a speedy trial for their conviction. Vinsut Boy Voda, the husband of the victim, thanked the local administration for arresting the accused.

Meanwhile, the Jharkhand High Court today took suo moto cognizance of the incident and sought a report from the State government in this regard. The hearing will take place on March 7.
Notably, the Spanish woman was gang-raped late on Friday night last at Kurumahat, under the Hansdiha police station.
The woman and her husband, both bike enthusiasts were camping in tents in Kunji village, Dumka. They were on a biking trip to Bhagalpur, Bihar when the incident occurred.
The woman and her husband arrived in India on a tourist visa as part of an extensive journey across Asia. They travelled to Pakistan initially, then to Bangladesh, before reaching Dumka. Their next destination from Jharkhand was planned to be Nepal.
