Ranchi, June 14: Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Cooperative Minister Badal Patralekh today said that loans up to Rs 2 lakh of farmers will be waived.
“For this, he has asked all the banks to submit proposals. Loans from Rs 50,000 to Rs 2 lakh taken by farmers till March 31 2020 will be waived through one-time settlement. For this, proposals have been invited from all the banks,” he said after holding a meeting with the officials of the State Level Bankers Committee at Nepal House.
Loans up to Rs 50K of 4.73 lakh farmers waived
The minister told in the meeting that as per its promise, the state government has given relief to such farmers who were worried due to bank loans. “Loans up to Rs 50,000 of more than 4.73 lakh farmers of the state have been waived. Under the scheme, an amount of more than Rs 1900 crore has been given by the government to the banks,” he pointed out.
Notably, in 2021-22, the government had announced to waive loans up to Rs 50,000 to give relief to the farmers. As per its promise, the government has executed all the applications whose KYC has been done.

Banks asked to send a proposal
The minister said that the loan waiver of 10,000 loanee farmers of the Multi-State Land Cooperative Development Bank Committee, Patna was considered. The decision to waive the loans of SC / ST and weaker section farmers who took loans was also taken in the meeting. Along with this, the waiver of loans of 14,346 indebted farmers by Deoghar Co-operative Grain Bank, Ltd., Deoghar was also considered.
Badal has directed the officials of all the banks to send a proposal to the state government for closing the accounts of those farmers, which have become NPA so that the farmers can be made debt-free.
He said that such indebted farmers, who have died and whose accounts have become NPA, will also be included in the category of beneficiaries without KYC after presenting competent evidence for such farmers.
Development Commissioner Avinash Kumar, Principal Secretary of Planning and Development Department Mastram Meena, Secretary of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Cooperative Department Abu Bakar Siddiqui and officials of the State Level Bankers Committee were present in the meeting.
