Ranchi, Feb 28: The Jharkhand High Court on Wednesday reserved its verdict on a writ petition challenging former state chief minister Hemant Soren’s arrest.
The High Court’s division bench presided by acting Chief Justice S Chandrashekhar, was hearing the matter.
A senior High Court advocate familiar with the court development said the ED’s advocate argued in detail.
Soren was arrested on January 31 in a case of money laundering involving the alleged illegal business of tribal land.
Since his arrest, he remained in ED remand for 13 days. While remaining in ED custody, he participated in a trust vote on February 5.
A decision regarding attending the budget session would also be taken later today.

In fact, two cases related to Hemant Soren were underway in the High Court.
The first case is that of the petition challenging the action taken against him by the ED.
The second case was filed regarding attending the budget session.
Today the court can give its verdict in this matter regarding the permission.
After the hearing in the matter on February 26, the High Court had reserved its decision.
Today the High Court will give its decision at around 4 pm.
During the hearing of the petition regarding non-permission to attend the budget session, senior Supreme Court advocate Kapil Sibal had said that being a public representative it is very important for Hemant Soren to attend the budget session.
Hence, he should be granted permission to attend the budget session.
