Jamshedpur, Jan 19: On the directives of the state school education and literacy department, all private English medium and government-aided and unaided schools in Jamshedpur changed the school timing from today keeping in view the prevailing cold weather.
The alteration in school timing will be in effect between January 19 and January 25.
For students of classes like Kindergarten to Std 5, the school hours have been adjusted to run from 10 am to 2 pm,
School officials said this has been done to avoid exposure to the early morning cold.
For students between Std VI and XII, the school timing will be between 9 am to 3 pm
In Rajendra Vidyalaya, the classes for Std VI would be between 9.50 am to 3 pm.

Carmel Junior College has declared suspension of classes from Nursery to Higher KG on January 19.
In Hill Top and several other ICSE schools, the classes for the primary level would disperse at 2 pm.
The pool car operators were informed about the alteration in school timing last evening so that they can plan accordingly.
An official of the state education department said that they did not want to take any chances as it concerns the students’ community and therefore notified alterations in school timing.
“The weather has been playing harsh because of the adverse conditions. We encountered unseasonal rain during the past 24 hours and this has increased the chill during day time. School timings will again get back to its original schedule as and when the weather condition improves, ” the official added.
