Dhanbad, July 2: The Indian Medical Association (IMA) and Rotary Club of Dhanbad on the occasion of Doctor’s Day (July 1) jointly felicitated 12 senior doctors of the coal belt for their selfless outstanding services in the treatment of patients and medical education field.
At a function held at Dhanbad Club on Monday evening, IMA state president Dr AK Singh was the chief guest. He and other members recalled the contributions of selected doctors in more than 30 years of their services and honoured them by presenting mementoes and shawls.

Those felicitated on the occasion were Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital (SNMMCH) principal Prof (Dr) Jyotiranjan Prasad, Prof (Dr) DP Bhushan ( HoD Orthopaedics), Prof ( Dr) UK Ojha (HoD medicine), Prof (Dr) CD Ram (HoD anaesthesia), Dr Ajay Kumar ( retired), Dr Arun Kumar Barnbal ( former superintendent SNMMCH), eminent gynaecologist of state Dr Shivani Jha, Dr OP Agrawal, Dr LL Laik, Dr Barun Kuma Singh, Dr VK Sinha, and Dr PP Pandey.
“Your selfless services to society especially your contribution to the treatment of patients and providing high-quality teaching to students in the medical field can’t be described in words. However, there would be no better day than Doctors’ Day to recall your dedication,” the president of IMA said.
On the occasion, retired HoD, obstetrics and gynaecology department SNMMCH Dr Pratibha Rai, IMA Dhanbad chapter president Dr Major Chandan, IMA treasurer Dr Rakesh Inder Singh, Dr Ashutosh Kumar Singh, Dr Nirmal Droulia, Dr Pranay Kumar Purvey also graced the felicitation ceremony.
