Jamshedpur, Sept 9: At least 20 students of Utkramit Prathmik Vidyalaya, Ichahatu, under Kadamdiha Panchayat of Goelkera block in neighbouring West Singhbhum, fell sick on Monday after consuming the midday meal, sparking panic on the school campus.
The children complained of vomiting, diarrhoea, and dizziness soon after eating.

Teacher Suman Kumar alerted the Block Resource Center, following which Block Development Officer Vivek Kumar instructed Medical Officer-in-Charge Dr. Jayashree to rush a medical team with an ambulance.

A team led by Dr. Jitendra Kumar from the Community Health Center treated the affected children between 3:30 pm and 8 pm in the night.
Sources said out of 34 children present in school, 20 suddenly fell ill.
Doctors confirmed that all children are now out of danger.

Concerned parents and villagers had gathered at the school, and the students were later sent home after treatment.
The district health department initiated a probe as to what resulted in the food poisoning.
