3.69 lakh disputes settled in National Lok Adalat at Dhanbad

Dhanbad, Sept 13: The National Lok Adalat held in Dhanbad on Saturday witnessed the settlement of 3,69,322 disputes, leading to a recovery of over ₹214 crore.

Additional Judge-cum-Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Mayank Tushar Topno, informed that under the direction of the Principal District and Sessions Judge, 13 benches were constituted for resolving disputes and cases.

Out of the total disputes settled, 38,563 were pending cases across different courts, while 3,30,759 were pre-litigation matters.

Earlier in the day, the third National Lok Adalat of 2025 was inaugurated online from Ranchi by the Chief Justice of Jharkhand, Tarlok Singh Chauhan.

Speaking on the occasion, Virendra Kumar Tiwari, Principal District and Sessions Judge of Dhanbad and Chairman of DLSA, said that the National Lok Adalat has become an integral part of people’s lives, evolving into a preferred mechanism for quick dispute resolution.

Other judicial officials present included Principal Judge, Family Court Subhash; Labour Judge Ramakant Mishra; District and Sessions Judge Durgesh Chandra Awasthi; Paras Kumar Sinha; Vijay Kumar Srivastava; Kumar Saket; Chief Judicial Magistrate Arti Mala; Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate P.S. Ghosh; Civil Judge Angelina John; Rajiv Kumar Singh; Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate Abhijit Pandey; Railway Magistrate Manoj Kumar; Judicial Magistrate First Class Rishi Kumar; and Registrar I.Z. Khan.

Senior administrative and banking officials such as DDC Sadat Anwar; SBI Regional Manager Meenakshi; LDM Amit Kumar; Chairman of the Permanent Lok Adalat Piyush Kumar; Certificate Officer Ravindranath Thakur; Member of the District Consumer Forum Shipra; Panel Advocates of DLSA; Legal Aid Defence Counsel System team; and officials from various departments were also present.
