Jharkhand News: AGM of Ranchi Badminton Association to take key decisions

Ranchi, Sept 19: The 13th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Badminton Association of Ranchi District (BARD) will be held tomorrow (Saturday) at Hotel Green Horizon at 5:30 pm.

Providing this information, BARD secretary N.K. Dey said that Association president R.K. Mallick (IPS) will preside over the meeting. Along with him, 40 life members of the association are also expected to attend.

“At the meeting, the financial position of BARD will be presented. In addition, we will chalk out the development plan for badminton in the district for 2026 and finalise other programmes to promote budding talent,” said N.K. Dey.

Ranchi’s Growing Badminton Presence

Last month, the Ranchi district association organised an inter-school tournament for boys and girls, which saw record participation from students.

Ranchi district has now emerged as a dominant force in badminton, not only in Jharkhand but also across the East Zone.

In the recently concluded East Zone Yonex Sunrise Senior and Under-19 Inter-State Badminton Championship, held in Jamshedpur from September 4 to 7, Ranchi’s Ananya Singh and Manisha Rani Tirkey won the silver medal in the women’s doubles event—marking a first for Jharkhand.

In the Under-19 mixed doubles event, the pair of Yogita Bora and Yuvraj Kumar also reached the semifinals, further highlighting Ranchi’s rising talent pool.
