Jharkhand News: Annual Sports Fest ‘Ignite 2025’ concludes at Sona Devi University

 

Jamshedpur, Dec 13: The four-day annual sports festival “Ignite 2025” at Sona Devi University, Ghatshila, concluded on a grand and celebratory note, marked by a festive atmosphere across the campus.

Winners and runners-up of various sporting events were felicitated with certificates during the closing ceremony, while colourful cultural performances added charm to the occasion.

Addressing the gathering, Registrar Dr Gulab Singh Azad highlighted the vital role of sports in the holistic development of students.

He stated that sports not only strengthen physical health but also nurture essential life skills such as discipline, leadership, teamwork, patience and self-control, encouraging students to move forward with consistent practice and a positive mindset.

Vice-Chancellor Dr Braj Mohan Pat Pingua, in his address, emphasised the growing importance of sports alongside academic excellence in today’s competitive era.

He noted that sports enhance mental strength, reduce stress, and build confidence and decision-making abilities, urging students to make sports an integral part of their daily routine.

Chief Guest and Chancellor Prabhakar Singh encouraged the participants, stating that sports instil the spirit of struggle, discipline and goal-oriented living.

He also informed about the blood donation camp scheduled to be held at the university on December 22, 2025, elaborating on the social and humanitarian significance of blood donation and appealing to students, faculty and staff to actively participate in the noble cause.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Sports In-charge Anil John, who attributed the success of Ignite 2025 to collective efforts.

He expressed gratitude to the Chancellor, Vice-Chancellor, Registrar, faculty members, department heads, staff, medical and security teams, volunteers and all participants for their support and dedication.

The successful organisation of the sports fest was made possible under the effective guidance and coordination of the Sports Committee members, including Dr Shivchand Jha, Dr Manoranjan Var, Dr Debbrata Roy, Pattri Mali, Princi Kumari, Kishor Kumar Mahakur, Sonal Kumari, Sheikh Adil Nazir and Vinay Prakash Chaudhary.

Their committed efforts ensured that Ignite 2025 emerged not merely as a sporting event, but as an inspiring celebration promoting discipline, unity, healthy competition and social responsibility among students.
