Jamshedpur, July 17: Former MP and senior Congress leader Dr. Ajoy Kumar has accused the BJP government of denying justice to victims and punishing them instead.

On July 7, Baikunth Pradhan accused Lalit Das of assaulting him and threatening to kill him. Pradhan reported the incident to Governor Raghubar Das and senior departmental officials, seeking justice for the alleged assault. Governor Das assured Pradhan and his family that justice would be served. However, no action was taken against Lalit Das, leading to further controversy.

In a surprising turn of events, Baikunth Pradhan was abruptly transferred to the Home Department. Dr. Ajoy Kumar criticized this move, claiming it exemplifies the BJP’s conduct and character.

Kumar accuses BJP of humiliating and punishing justice-seeking victims

He argued that in BJP-ruled states, victims are often denied justice and instead face punitive actions. “It is clear from this that victims do not get justice in BJP-ruled states. This is the conduct and character of BJP,” Dr. Kumar stated.

Dr. Ajoy Kumar emphasized that this incident is not isolated. He recounted previous incidents during Raghubar Das’s tenure as Chief Minister, where victims seeking justice were humiliated and dismissed. He cited public meetings where Das reportedly humiliated victims who pleaded for justice.

Additionally, Dr. Kumar pointed to numerous incidents in BJP-ruled Uttar Pradesh, where victims allegedly faced punishment instead of justice. “There have been many incidents in BJP-ruled Uttar Pradesh when victims did not get justice. Instead, they were punished for defaming the government,” he asserted.

Kumar demands answers from BJP

Dr. Ajoy  Kumar also mentioned growing resentment among Odisha’s officers and employees against Raghubar Das. He claimed that such incidents contribute to a climate of fear and dissatisfaction among government officials, who feel they cannot seek justice without facing repercussions.

Dr. Ajoy  Kumar’s statement calls for accountability and justice for Baikunth Pradhan and other victims. He urged the BJP government to take immediate action against Lalit Das and ensure that victims are not punished for speaking out. “Why has no action been taken against Lalit Das till now?” he questioned, demanding answers from the BJP leadership.
