Dhanbad, March 4: The Dhanbad Railway Division of the East Central Railway (ECR) zone has earned over Rs 3.65 crores from the sale of tickets for special trains to Prayagraj during the Kumbh Mela.
DRM Kamal Kishore Sinha shared this information with the media, explaining that a total of 76 special trains, including 28 from Dhanbad station, were operated from various stations within the division between February 1 and 24. The total revenue earned from these trains was Rs 3,65,16,325.

Special Trains Across Multiple Stations
In addition to the 28 special trains from Dhanbad, the division operated several other services, including eight from Daltonganj Junction, four from Chopan, three each from Gomoh, Parasnath, and Barkakana, two from Barwadih, and one each from Garhwa Road and Koderma. Furthermore, 23 Kumbh Mela special trains passed through the division.
Dhanbad Tops in Freight Earnings
Kamal Kishore Sinha also announced that the Dhanbad Rail Division has once again emerged as the highest freight-earning division out of 258 rail divisions across the country for February 2025.
The division earned Rs 1,925.23 crores from freight loading, surpassing other major divisions such as Bilaspur (Rs 1,847.56 crores), Khurda Road (Rs 1,188.26 crores), and Chakradharpur (Rs 985.15 crores), which ranked second, third, and fourth, respectively.
