Daltonganj, July 9: A facelift to Harihurganj block, the single aspirational block in 21 block Palamu district is on the anvil under the Sampoornata Abhiyan of the Niti Ayog.
It’s like a crash course where all the 6 sectors of the aspirational block with 49 indicators are to be met with precision and in time.
The race has begun from July 4 which will end on 30 September.
DC Palamu Shashi Ranjan asked the officials of the block to make use of the local resources. He explained how he did it in Khunti where he served as DC.
Shashi Ranjan said “There in Khunti we found tribal children having stunted growth. We didn’t go for anything heavenly for them, rather we gave them local food to eat and they just got out of the stunted growth malaise.”
Here too in Harihurganj block local resources can be tapped, he suggested. Those doing well will be honoured in the coming 15 August announced DC.
DDC Shabbir Ahmad in his speech explained the concept and logic behind taking up a block as an aspirational block.
Shabbir Ahmad said a saturated block is one where Niti Ayog’s all 6 sectors yield good results.
DDC asked for a concerted effort to make Harihurganj a true aspirational block.

Himanshu Joshi the man from Niti Ayog said “There would be many people to ask as to why this Sampoornata Abhiyan is of 90 days. It could have been any number of days more than 90 or less than 90.”
Joshi then tried to explain it himself saying “It’s a timeline to achieve. One is to deliver. Officials of Harihurganj block can prove their mettle.”
Harihurganj aspirational block has two ends East Harihurganj and West Harihurganj and the two are different from each other.
Being right on the No Man’s Land between Jharkhand and Bihar Harihurganj block has an upward mobility market which may be exploited for the benefit of its people.
On the health and maternity front Harihurganj block sees a couple of Bihar doctors practicing here who have their so-called nursing homes. These homes are everything except nursing.
Further Harihurganj block is one among many of the blocks here in Palamu where there is not a single degree college.
Students of this region either prefer to go to colleges in Bihar which is 23 kms away from Harihurganj or come down to Jharkhand Palamu’s own Chhaterpur block which has 2 degree colleges.
Flow of cash is good here because of its interstate status but poverty, malnutrition, lack of education among the girls are a staring fact.
At Kasturba Gandhi Balika Awasiya Vidyalaya Harihurganj as against a total of 525 admissions from class 6 to 12, only 385 admissions are there thus a huge 140 seats are vacant here for want of the admission of the girls.
This Sampoornata Abhiyan may be used to fill these vacant seats said sources.
