PINAKI MAJUMDAR

Jamshedpur, August 27: Acting on a tip-off received by the East Singhbhum Superintendent of Police, a special team led by the Ghatshila Sub-Divisional Police Officer has busted a major employment scam in the region.

Youths duped with job promises

The gang lured unemployed youths with fake job offers, charging up to ₹25,000 each. Victims were also threatened with false complaints if they resisted. To make the scam convincing, the accused issued forged appointment letters, training documents, and other papers.

Racket run from fake office

The operation was being run under the name MS. Riya Enterprises at Laldih Basti, within the Ghatshila police station limits. Police seized incriminating papers, registers, and financial records during the raid.

179 rescued, four arrested

Police rescued 179 youths—both men and women—brought from different states under the pretext of training and jobs. They were housed in rented rooms and are now being sent back home safely.

The arrested masterminds are:

  • Ganesh Kumar Rana (28), son of Babulal Rana, Bholabagan, Chotanimbudia, PS Govindpur, East Singhbhum
  • Mohd. Kumar Rana alias Gagan Rana, son of Obed Rana
  • Rinku Kumar Rana, son of Sunil Singh, resident of Keshaloi
  • Kundal Rana (34), son of Swaroop Paswan Singh

Hunt on for associates

Other associates identified include Suman Yadav, Deva Yadav, Sunil Yadav, Amod Yadav, Rahul Ranjan, Anil, and Ravi Chauhan. Police are conducting raids to nab them.

Public warned

Police have urged people to stay alert against fraudulent job offers and to report such activities without delay.
