Jamshedpur, Jan 20: Santosh Singh, brother of former Congress leader Jitendra Singh, was shot dead at Gurudwara Basti in Mango last night. Santosh Singh used to run a transport business at Baliguma on NH-33.

Two youths fired fatal shots

Santosh was returning to his home in a scooty at Gurudwara Basti in Mango after collecting money from the Mango market.

A couple of youths who were waiting on the approach road to his house started firing on him. Soon after the firing incident, Santosh entered a nearby house. The youths followed him and fired two bullets on Santosh’s head. Satish later collapsed and died on the spot.

Murderers identified

On getting information police reached the spot. The body was sent to MGM Medical College in Dimna for post-mortem.

According to police sources, the murderers have been identified. Sources said close aides of Dabbu Dixit were alleged to have opened fire on Santosh Singh. Dabbu Dixit was also murdered a few years back.

City SP Kumar Shivashish, DSP (Headquarters) Bhola Prasad and Mango thana in-charge Niranjan Tiwari went to the spot after getting information. Police have initiated a thorough investigation to unravel the murder mystery.

A pall of gloom descended at the Gurudwara Basti. According to sources, Jitendra Singh’s daughter’s marriage was scheduled later this week.
