Four underprivileged students celebrate birthday for first time

Ranchi, Nov 4: It was a visual treat for four students who had for the first time celebrated their birthday on the premises of Government Middle School at Karamtoli Bariatu today. All four students Jyotsna, Suhini, Rozal and Suribhi who for the first time blew birthday candles and used knife to cut their birthday cakes with radiant smiles.

Chief Guest on the occasion was the principal of St Xaviers College Ranchi, Father Nabor Lakra, who along with Prof BK Sinha held knife with four underprivileged girls to cut the black forest cake at the backdrop of clapping and birthday song.

After celebration, all four girls were given birthday gifts comprised of stationary items. This was followed by distribution of sweets and cakes which brought smiles to their faces.

“We are speechless as for the first time we got an opportunity to interact and celebrate their birthday. All of you continue attending school and such types of activities will be part of your academic schedule,” the Chief Guest said.

Later Sanjay Lal, a theatre artist, Deepankar a well-known visual artist displayed their skills in front of students who were surprised. Deepankar who was surrounded by students took his paint brush and started depicting landscape with water colour. A well-known artist and Vice President of Pankhuri Rajesh Raj Ravi gifted students sketches of birthday girls and guided them with his artistic skills.

With all cooperation principal of St Xaviers College distributed chocolates, sweets among all students along with Prof BK Sinha. This day long program was organised by social outfit Pankhuri.

Present on the occasion were Chairperson of Pankhuri Arti Sahuliyar, Advisor Dr Sanjay Kumar Verma, Vice President Rajesh Raj Ravi, Treasurer Hazel Davis, Vice President Sushil Kumar Srivastava, and MD of Daraad Engicon Private Limited Saurabh Ambastha.
