Jamshedpur, April 18: Mystery shrouds the grievous injuries inflicted on a middle-aged woman allegedly by a gang of four intruders at a private health hub located in the MGM thana area on Friday morning.

The victim Jyoti Kumari (35), who work as the in-charge of Ayushmaan Arogya Mandir located at Ruhidih under the MGM thana area, has been rushed to Tata Main Hospital for the treatment of the grievous head injuries caused due to the repeated strike with a spade by the attackers.

As the woman is struggling for her life at the hospital bed, unable to speak, the police are waiting for her to regain consciousness to get her version of the circumstances that led her to sustain such injuries.

Husband’s Account Under Scrutiny as Police Probe Gaps

Though a police team from the MGM thana had swung into action after getting to know about the alleged attack on the woman following a complaint by the victim’s husband, they are suspecting foul play as several questions put before Jyoti’s husband either remain unanswered or unsatisfactory.

As per the husband’s statement, four men stormed into the health hub at about 8.30 am and hit his wife with a spade repeatedly. As per the statement, by the time he came down to the ground floor, hearing the commotion, the attackers had already gone away, leaving her wife in a pool of blood.

The husband claimed he was not at the spot when his wife was attacked and hence he is unaware as to what transpired between them before the attack.

Revealing about the incident, SP (Rural) Rishabh Garg said they doubt whether what the victim’s husband claimed was true.

CCTV Footage Unavailable, Neighbours Saw Nothing

“There are CCTV cameras installed in and outside the health hub, but the gadgets have been lying switched off since last night. Secondly, none of the neighbours see anyone entering into or coming out of the gated health hub in the morning. And thirdly, Jyoti Kumari is the second wife of her husband who is the father of two grown-up sons (both above 20 years in age) from his first wife, ” said Garg while talking to The Jharkhand Story.

The SP (Rural) while replying the queries, said the 55-year-old man in question claimed he had to switch off the CCTV cameras as it was lightning in the night, when nothing of the sort happened on Thursday night.

“In view of the contradictory statement of the victim’s husband and his dubious background, raise a suspicion that there must be something serious behind the grievous injuries inflicted on the woman. This is the reason that we are waiting for the statement of the victim,” said the senior police officer. He pointed out that anything could be possible, adding that the investigation is on.

Jyoti Kumari’s younger brother, Prem Prakash, kept on crying over his sister’s condition. He said he stays somewhere else and rushed to the hospital on hearing about the incident.
