Dhanbad, July 22: Jamshedpur beat Ranchi to wear double crowns of boys under-14 and under-17 titles in Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) Zonal Basketball Championship which concluded here at De Nobili School Koradih on Sunday evening.
In boys’ under-14 final, Jamshedpur outclassed the Ranchi team in the final by 39-19 to establish supremacy. Dhanbad boys got 3rd position defeating Bhagalpur 28-26 in an exciting encounter.
Jamshedpur team dominated proceedings
In the boy’s under-17 final too Jamshedpur team dominated the proceeding and beat Ranchi 46-31 points to bag the championship trophy. Dhanbad again beat Bhagalpur26-19 and bagged the third position in the zone.

In the final ceremony, former Olympian JP Singh and Harbhajan Singh were chief guests and guests of honour. They highly appreciated the performance of Jamshedpur, Ranchi, Dhanbad, and Bhagalpur school students and said that they have the potential to go ahead in this field.
Ex-Olympians laud impressive arrangement
The former Olympians also praised the impressive arrangement made by De Nobili School for the zonal championship. Earlier host principal CC Francis felicitated Harbhajan Singh, JP Singh and Dr Shahnawaz Ahmed. All trio guests gave away prizes among teams.
Kallol Samantha said Bhumika Antina Francis, Aryan Francis, Arif Khan, Srishti Kumari, Rajiv Sinha, Sunny Kumar, Amar Kumar, and Kunal Singh were referees in the finals. Dolly Prasad conducted the closing function.
