Jamshedpur, August 4: The lawyer community of the city paid heartfelt tribute to Shibu Soren, veteran leader of the Jharkhand separate state formation movement and former Chief Minister, following his demise.
A condolence meeting was organised at the New Bar Building of the District Civil Court premises, where advocates observed two minutes of silence in his memory.
Socialist thinker Sudhir Kumar Pappu said that with his passing, “the identity of the tribals and the soul of Jharkhand are silent today.”

He recalled how Soren freed Jharkhand from the atrocities of moneylenders, strengthened the tribal identity, and gave sharp direction to the separate state movement, leading to the formation of Jharkhand.
Former Public Prosecutor Advocate PN Gop noted that Soren guided the centuries-old dream of Jharkhand’s sons of the soil to reality. He added that his son, Hemant Soren, as Chief Minister, is working to fulfil his vision of ensuring water, forest, and land rights for the people.
