Jamshedpur, Sept 5: The sensational robbery at Vardhman Jewellers in Gudri Bazaar under Sonari police station has been cracked, with Jamshedpur police arresting six people, including the mastermind.
A mobile phone recovered from the crime scene proved to be the biggest breakthrough in the investigation.
According to police sources, the gang carried out the heist on motorcycles and fled with the loot. In an attempt to erase evidence, they later dumped the bike at a pond in Chandil.

However, the mobile phone left behind became the key piece of evidence.
Police traced crucial leads through the phone’s call records and location data. CCTV footage from the area further helped establish the accused’s movements.
Investigations revealed that the arrested men are part of a larger interstate gang involved in multiple heists.
Acting on SSP’s directive, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed. The SIT’s swift action led to the identification and arrest of half of the gang members. Efforts are now on to recover the stolen jewellery and nab the remaining accused.
“The mobile phone recovered from the spot played a vital role in cracking the case. Six men have been arrested, and we are confident of nabbing the rest very soon,” said a senior police official.
