Jawed Husaain was the City Commissioner of Medininagar Municipal Corporation here before his joining as DDC of Palamu.

This is for the first time in the annals of the Palamu administration when a City Commissioner crossed the building to become the DDC in another block barely 150 meters away from each other.

The distance between the office of the City Commissioner of Medininagar Municipal Corporation and the office of the Deputy Development Commissioner is just a stone’s throw away.

A Unique Duo at the Helm of District Administration

There is one more coincidence. Palamu’s present DC, Sameera S, had had her stint here as City Commissioner of Medininagar Municipal Corporation a few years ago.

The Medininagar Municipal Corporation here is puffed up with pride of having its two erstwhile City Commissioners now in the capacity of DC in Sameera S and the other in the capacity of the DDC in Jawed Husaain managing Palamu district.

Expectations High for Abuwa Awas and MGNREGA Implementation

All eyes are on the new DDC as to how he goes about the Abuwa Awas Yojana and MGNREGA schemes. One is associated with shelter, the other is with wages.

No matter how much effort the new DDC puts into accelerating the completion of Abuwa Awas houses, the severe sand shortage will remain a major hurdle.

The NGT (National Green Tribunal) has put an embargo on legal mining of sand in Jharkhand from June 10 to October 15.

Again, by virtue of being the DDC, Jawed Husaain is also the CEO (chief executive officer) of the Zila Parishad, wherein has merged district rural development agency only last year. The merged body is now christened as District Rural Development Section.

Jawed Husaain has earned a sobriquet of being a Common Man’s officer. He hears one and all.

The post of the DDC is a tight rope walk as not only the schemes that pour in, but the henchmen of the MLAs and the MPs too, try to grab the schemes by all means.

There goes a saying in Palamu: “The sailing of the DDC is far more jerky than that of the DC.”
