Ranchi, April 18: A jewellery shop owner was shot and injured by unidentified criminals on Friday afternoon in Chatakpur Bazaar, located under the Ratu police station area of Ranchi district.

One of them, the pillion rider, entered the shop and fired at Basant, hitting him in the left shoulder. The sudden gunfire caused panic in the area, and as locals began to gather, the attackers fled the scene at high speed.

Eyewitnesses stated that Basant was sitting inside his shop when the bike-borne criminals arrived. The gunshot alerted nearby residents, who tried to chase the attackers, but their bike’s speed helped them escape.

Locals immediately rushed the injured shopkeeper to City Hospital for treatment.

Police reached the spot soon after being informed and have launched an investigation into the incident.
