Jamshedpur, Oct 1: The Sakchi campus of Karim City College witnessed a thoughtful tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, as students from the Mass Communication, History, and Political Science departments came together to attend a screening of the Oscar-winning film ‘Gandhi’.
The event was organized by the Department of Mass Communication under its Film Club, Cinechaupal, emphasizing Gandhi’s enduring message of non-violence and truth.
Dr. Neha Tiwari, the Head of the Department of Mass Communication, welcomed the attendees and highlighted the significance of non-violence in today’s world. “Gandhiji was always in favour of non-violence, and it is our duty to uphold this principle in our lives,” she stated during her address.
Dr. Anwar Shahab, Head of the Department of Political Science, echoed Dr. Tiwari’s sentiments, urging students to embrace honesty and integrity in their personal and professional lives. “Following the path of truth and honesty is essential for our well-being,” he emphasized.

The screening was followed by an interactive discussion where students shared their insights. Ayush Asthana, a Mass Communication student, reflected on the film’s portrayal of differing ideologies, stating, “Every person has unique beliefs, but there is a common thread that unites us all—our commitment to non-violence.”
Suraj Shah from the Political Science department remarked on the film’s moral teachings, saying, “The film Gandhi reminds us that honesty should be a cornerstone of our lives and that harmony with others is vital.”
Rehan Raza from the History department expressed gratitude for the inspiration drawn from the film, emphasizing the importance of truth and love as fundamental principles to follow.
The program concluded with a heartfelt thank you from Divyanshu, a Mass Communication student, who appreciated the contributions of faculty and students in making the event a success.
In attendance were faculty members including Dr. Shahnawaz and Dr. Aman from the History and Political Science departments, respectively, along with Dr. Udham Singh from the Psychology Department. The event received support from staff members such as Tanmay Solanki and Dr. Rashmi Kumari, among others.
