Jamshedpur, Feb 25: The Adventure Club of Loyola School, Jamshedpur, organised a trekking expedition that left students with memories to cherish for a lifetime. Named “Where the Trail Meets Thrills,” the trek took place on February 20 and 21, engaging students from classes 6 to 9, and class 11, in a challenging yet rewarding adventure through the scenic Dalma Hills.

The trekking event saw the participation of around 400 students, who overcame their fears and pushed their physical limits amidst the rugged terrain of the Dalma range. The expedition was strategically planned right after the final exams to provide students with an opportunity to relax, refresh, and recharge. Starting from Maukulakocha, a quaint village nestled at the foot of the Dalma Hills, the students embarked on their journey through nature’s lap.

The trail, known for its steep and rugged paths, tested the students’ physical strength and endurance. Despite the unpredictable weather conditions, the young trekkers showed remarkable determination, navigating the challenging landscape step by step.

Father Vinod Fernandes, SJ, the Principal of Loyola School, emphasized the significance of such adventurous activities in a student’s life. “Trekking not only helps reduce stress but also builds confidence and prepares students to face life’s challenges. These experiences boost self-esteem, strengthen friendships, develop teamwork, and create self-awareness. They also help students appreciate nature and foster a sense of responsibility toward the environment,” said Father Fernandes.

Safety remained a top priority throughout the trek. The students were guided by experienced trekkers and accompanied by forest department guards to ensure a safe and well-coordinated adventure.

Special thanks were extended to DFO, Saba Alam Ansari, for granting permission to trek in the Dalma range and for providing all necessary facilities. A special mention was also made for Mazharul Bari, who conducted a demonstration of emergency rescue techniques, adding an educational aspect to the adventure.

The success of the event was attributed to meticulous planning and flawless execution. The trek was organized by the Games Coordinator, Dale Anthony Passagne, with the invaluable support of senior games teachers. Their collective efforts ensured a seamless experience for the students, allowing them to fully immerse themselves in the adventure without any safety concerns.

Students expressed their excitement and joy, stating that the trek not only gave them a break from academics but also taught them valuable life lessons. “I felt a sense of accomplishment after completing the trek. It was challenging but thrilling at the same time,” said a student of Class 9. Another student added, “The trek taught us the importance of teamwork and perseverance. It was an experience we will never forget.”
