Dhanbad, July 12: Independent MLA Saryu Roy will meet the family, allegedly tortured by the supporters of Dhanbad BJP MP Dhulu Mahto at Chitahi under the Barora police station, around 28 km away from here.
Giving this information, Roy, who had defeated former CM Raghubar Das in the 2019 assembly elections, today said that he will visit Dhanbad on July 14 to meet the victim’s family thrashed by alleged supporters of MP Dhulu Mahto over the forceful occupation of land.
“The matter is serious. We can’t leave the poor family to suffer from the torture of an influential person. So, I will visit Dhanbad to rescue the victim’s family,” said Saryu Roy.
Doman Mahto filed case against MP in 2020
Notably, two persons, including a woman were seriously injured in a group clash over a plot near Chitahi-based Ramraj temple of MP Dhulu Mahto on Thursday. The land belongs to Doman Mahto.

Neera Devi, the wife of Doman Mahto, got a serious injury while Krishna Ravidas of the other side was also injured in the clash.
Kali Kumari, the daughter of Neera Devi, alleged that MP Dhulu Mahto’s supporter Ajay Gorai along with 15 to 20 people arrived on land and bulldozed her vegetable farm. When her mother and other family members protested, they beat up them badly, she added.
Doman was in Dhanbad court to testify against MP
She alleged that the MP’s supporters intentionally thrashed her family members as her father Doman Mahto had gone to Dhanbad to appear in the MP, MLA court as a witness in a case against Dhulu Mahto.
The dispute between Doman Mahto and Dhulu Mahto over land near Ramraj Temple is four years old. Doman Mahto filed an FIR in this connection in 2020 against the then-Baghmara MLA Dhulu Mahto.
However, Ajay Gorai (an alleged MP supporter) refuted the charges of Kali Kumari and said he has nothing to do with land.
Ironically, the police that got Neera Devi admitted to SNMMCH, have not filed an FIR even after 24 hours of the clash. Officer-in-charge Vikash Kumar said that no one has lodged a written complaint so far.
Dhanbad MP Dhulu Mahto did not receive the call to give his comment on the allegation of Doman Mahto’s daughter.
