Daltonganj, October 9: Nilamber Pitamber University (NPU), Daltonganj is all out to release salaries in accordance with the biometric attendance.

This arrangement for a salary linked to the Adhar Enabled Biometric Attendance System will take off first from the administrative building of the Nilamber Pitamber University which will be followed in all the 9 constituent colleges.

Vice Chancellor of the Nilamber Pitamber University, Dr Prof Dinesh Kumar Singh, informed the press on Thursday, “This Adhar Enabled Biometric Attendance System will start on/ from November. The administrative building will take the lead.”

An employee of the university or constituent college will have to mark his attendance thrice a day, 10 am, 1 pm and at the closing hour of the institution, added the VC.

Salary of the day will be held up for the day biometric attendance is not done. It will be condoned. It will be pardoned for the second and third such missing of marking of biometric attendance. However fourth such episode will be much harsher, reminded the VC.

“I know this arrangement will be resisted. I will be flayed. But I know how to go about it,” said the VC.

Students’ Union Elections Scheduled for December 2025

He pulled up a big surprise when he repeatedly said,” We will hold students’ union election in December 2025. Let student bodies come forward.”

Reminded that preparing the electoral roll of the registered and in session students is a very challenging task which takes months as per the recommendations of the Lyngdoh Committee, to which the Vice Chancellor said, “We will be up and doing.”

Again reminded that Jharkhand is set to go for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll under the directive of the Election Commission of India in the coming weeks and holding students’ union election preparations for which are to run almost simultaneously may be a gruesome exercise, to which the VC said, “It will be looked into.”

Convocation Lessons and University Standards

He was honest enough to concede when he said, “We have taken lessons from the third convocation ceremony that we held. There were minor errors in it. Where there is any big event such minor lapses do occur. We assure there will be no repeat of it anymore.”

“This convocation ceremony was much different from the previous two convocation ceremonies. This time we had a big contingent of the VIPs like two MPs, ministers and other distinguished guests. All were well taken care of. But I feel our press fraternity missed our hospitality despite our arrangements,” he added.

He sounded tough when he said, “If we find a gold medalist wanting in goodness of character, then his space in the university or college will be restricted. The university will examine the conduct digitally.”

This correspondent reminded if the College Leaving Certificate gives good character marking to the student who goes out of the college, then how come the university will find holes in his character to which the VC shot back, “A one-time good character tag will not be a perpetual tag of good character. Character and conduct are subject to dispassionate evaluation as per needs of the hour.”

Faculty Crisis and Departmental Management

“There is a huge crisis of faculties. There are departments which have a zero teacher status. I am waiting for the go-ahead signal from the government in respect to the need-based teacher. My wait for the permission of the government to hire need-based teacher is getting longer and longer with each passing day,” reiterated the VC.

“We are very serious about hiring gold medalist to double up as a teacher. It will be done in the coming 15 days,” assured the VC.

When asked about departments remaining locked and faculties wandering around leaving the students to their poor fate, the VC said, “It’s the principal’s job to ensure that departments open in time, teachers take classes but I have no hesitation in saying the principals develop cold feet and try to hide reporting the factual status. The principals just falter and skip to write the fact.”

All professional and vocational courses, barring mainstream like law, nursing etc are to function at one command and integrated centre for effective and proper monitoring, added the VC.
