Daltonganj, April 24: Late coming to the colleges and departments, skipping classes, early exiting of the campus, either by the teachers or non-teaching staff, are unacceptable. There must be a sense of belongingness to the institution and duties.
Addressing Punctuality and Accountability
Vice Chancellor of the Nilamber Pitamber University, Dr Prof Dinesh Kumar Singh, in conversation with the Jharkhand Story correspondent today said, “We now have our SoP (standard operating procedure). It’s nothing outlandish. Our SoP is quite a common stuff.”
“Teachers and non-teaching staff should be on the campus from 10.30 am to 4 pm on every working day. Where is the rule of coming too late and going too early?” quipped the VC.

“As for the university, it is 10 am to 5 pm. Are we not supposed to work in the larger interest of the students?” the VC wanted to know.

He said, “This timeline is bound to create murmurings. I know for sure. But I also know the dutiful will hail it and those who were in long-standing practice of coming late, going earlier, no matter classes taken or not, will surely feel the heat of the timeline.”
“If an officer comes late in the office, can lower rung officials be asked to explain their late arrival? How can you enforce punctuality when you yourself don’t practice punctuality?” said the VC.
“We need everyone’s cooperation and support for better delivery to the students. No one should be any apathetic to the students,” reminded the VC.
Praising Infrastructure at Mazdoor Kisan Degree College
“I had been to Mazdoor Kisan Degree College under the Panki police station limits. The college, which bears a very ordinary name, Mazdoor Kissan, has wonderful infrastructural facilities,” said the VC.
“I have no hesitation in admitting that this Mazdoor Kisan degree college is better than many of our constituent colleges. Here is a smart classroom. There is an auditorium. Audio systems are quite functional,” counted the VC.

Asked about the campus if it was wearing a desolate look that one finds here in the constituent colleges after 1.45 pm, to which the VC said, “As it’s exam time, the campus was abuzz with activities. I want campuses to be vibrant and hectic. Let the days of teaching and interactive sessions between the students and the teachers grow more and more healthier. It will benefit both the teachers and the students.”
Hailing St. Xavier’s College Mahuadanr as a Model Institution
The VC was all praise for St Xavier’s College at Mahuadanr, terming it as the flagship college in the Nilamber Pitamber University, where the routine of classes is a matter of extreme academic satisfaction.
“This St Xavier’s College is a specimen of what a college ought to be. People who run it, have in their genes, to make teaching institutions more and more meaningful and purposeful,” added the VC.
