Dhanbad, Feb 24: A leakage in the oxygen pipeline caused panic at Shahid Nimal Mahto Medical College and Hospital (SNMMCH) Dhanbad on Monday afternoon.

According to Dr. SK Chourasia, the superintendent and principal of SNMMCH, the leakage occurred between 2:45 pm and 3:00 pm near the medicine ward of the hospital. The loud sound of escaping oxygen alerted the hospital staff, who quickly detected the source of the leak and shut off the supply line before any harm could occur.

Dr. Chourasia confirmed that no damage was caused by the oxygen leak. The hospital staff acted swiftly, locating the leak and cutting off the supply to prevent any further issues. The supplier, Pushpa Sales Private Limited, has been notified to repair the damaged system, he said.

An attendant of an indoor patient described the situation as chaotic, with patients and their attendants fleeing the ward in panic due to the loud sound of the oxygen leak. However, the hospital superintendent and staff promptly reached the scene and took control of the situation by halting the supply from the plant.

Hospital authorities assured that oxygen supply to other wards was not affected by the pipeline leak near the medicine ward.
