Daltonganj, September 24: Palamu administration keeps eyes on weather forecast for a smooth passage of the Durga Puja. The abundance of rain has become a major concern this Durga Puja.
The weather is quite unpredictable here and hence weather plays a major role in the maintenance of social order. Weather watching is now at the top of the administration.
The river Koyel has enough water right now, and on the day of Visarjan, children join the immersion processions and enter into the river bed where the current of water may pose risks. Caution rope and standby divers were demanded.
Crowd and Shop Management
Crowd management was asked for on the day of Sandhee Puja. Demand for the closure of chicken mutton shops located near the Brahmin schools was made.
Two villages, Palhey and Loinga, under Paton block are on the radar of the civil and police administration.
Palhey had communal disturbances this Muharram while Loinga had communal discontent last Durga Puja.
SDPO Sadar Mani Bhushan Prasad informed that there would be a contingent of the CRPF assisting the local police under the Paton block.

Infrastructure and Cultural Event Oversight
Electricity Executive Engineer Santosh Kumar assured that power supply would be normal, and where overhead wires are sagging, effective measures would be taken well in time.
Additional Collector Kundan Kumar asked the Block Development Officers (BDOs) and Circle Officers (Cos) to keep eyes on the post Puja cultural events, which take place at night.
Sadar SDO Sulochana Meena said there was a conflict of opinion between the two communities in regard to the observance of the Puja at a place under Nawa Bazar police station, where one community wanted Puja pandal while the other community was opposing it.

Safety and Law Enforcement Measures
SP Reeshma Ramesan asked for the structural safety of the Puja pandals as rains and lightning are occurring quite frequently. SP suggested officials of the building construction department should inspect Puja pandals in the wake of the rains and the earth is still quite soaked with water.
SP further asked for expertise in handling fire extinguishers as it has been seen when emergency arises, many on spot just don’t know how to handle the fire extinguishers.
Last Durga Puja, there were many road accidents and losses of lives and hence this time this be contained in all seriousness, reminded the SP.
Combating Anti-Social Activities and Misinformation
DC Sameera S, in her speech, asked the officials for proper lighting and smooth passage and officials responsible for it have to do it without getting away from their responsibility.
Traffic has to be congestion free enroute to Shivajee Maidan during the Ravan Dahan.
Huge Puja pandals will be inspected by the electricity officials and pandals must adhere to safety norms, directed the DC.
CCTV cameras are mandated for the Durga Puja pandals, DC reiterated. Drivers of the Visarjan vehicles should abstain from alcohol and no driving under the influence of alcohol will be tolerated.
Hate speeches have no room. Administration will deal with it very strictly. Misinformation will be thumbed down very severely. There was a misinformation some months back when a decorative flag was misconstrued as flag of Palestine. Such hateful exaggeration must be shunned said the SP.
