Daltonganj, Feb 17: A team of officials led by the DC Shashi Ranjan today took a long walk to platform number 1 of the Daltonganj railway station to pre-estimate the magnitude of the crowd of the passengers.

Station Superintendent Umesh Kumar said the team arrived minutes before the Ranchi-Chopan express train departed from the station.

The DC has assured the railway officials that magistrates and medical team will be here ahead of the arrival of the trains when the rush of passengers is terrible.

Umesh Kumar said the railways have urged the DC to have his monitoring team of officials here every night from 8 o’clock to 2 o’clock which is a high-density assemblage of passengers here for Paryagraj for the Maha Kumbh.

This new arrangement is to be maintained till February 28 as the Maha Kumbh Mela ends on February 26.

Tata-Jammu Tawi express train is a hugely crowded train.

The team that visited the Daltonganj railway station today included DDC Shabbir Ahmad, City Commissioner Md Jawed Husaain, SDO Sulochna Meena and others.

The Daltonganj railway station has one FoB (foot over bridge) closed for passengers traffic. This FoB is decaying.

There is one FoB which is in use. It’s at the far end of the station where passengers are to take huge steps to get upstairs.

There is a lift but it remains non-operational for most of the hours because boys and girls going to coaching centres and schools and colleges play with the lift.
