Daltonganj, May 1: The onset of summer has begun to see transformers burning. Over loading is a major factor. Consumption of electricity gets three fold high in peak summer.

Four transformers, each of 100kv got burnt in the town Daltonganj which were replaced by high capacity transformers @ 200kv within 24 hours, said the Executive Engineer of Electricity, Santosh Kumar.

Santosh Kumar claimed electricity supply to the MMCH Daltonganj called Sadar Hospital is on average more than 23 hours a day and night combined.

There is a dedicated transformer for the Sadar hospital, reiterated Santosh Kumar.

Labour Shortages and Irrigation Demands Impact Maintenance Work

He agreed there is a strong need for maintenance which means power shut down and when power is shut down for hours, the electricity officials get a huge deluge of complaint calls from the consumers.

Santosh Kumar said as marriage season has begun, there is a shortage of labourers. The shortage of labourers is also a factor behind the related maintenance works here.

Sources said farmers in Palamu are typical about using electricity for their irrigation of the fields.

The farmers do it as and when they feel free to it whereas the common practice of the farmers is to use electricity for irrigation only in the first three hours of the day.

Executive Engineer of Electricity further said, “We are for the farmers. We believe they understand our intention well.”

“Farmers are a welcome if they just try using early morning time to consume electricity for irrigation works”, added Santosh Kumar.

New Agri Feeder in Bishrampur Set to Benefit Farmers

Sources said an agri feeder becomes non-agri feeder thus harming the prospects of the farmers.

Agri feeders should be left exclusive of the farmers but it is changed into a non-agri feeder for petty facilities, reminded the Executive Engineer of Electricity.

There is going to be an agri feeder set up soon in Bishrampur for which the local RJD MLA Naresh Prasad Singh has even raised the issue in the last session of Vidhan Sabha as well.

Santosh Kumar said a huge army of farmers of 20 villages will benefit from the agri feeder in Bishrampur.
