Demands and allegations

During the protest, doctors at Sadar Hospital, CHC, PHC, and other health centers in Sahibganj wore black badges to show their dissent.

The protesting doctors argue that the FIR lodged by the district administration is incorrect and contradicts the Supreme Court rulings.

According to the SC ruling, only expert doctors can determine negligence in patient treatment. The agitating doctors said that the district administration has declared the doctors guilty based on a non-technical committee report.

They demanded that the Deputy Development Commissioner (DDC), who is the nodal officer of the hospital, be held accountable and removed from his position, as he is deemed equally responsible for the death of a six-year-old child.

The protestors also requested the deployment of ex-servicemen at Sadar Hospital and CHC.

Former IMA Jamshedpur chapter Secretary Dr. Mritunjay Kumar Singh condemned the FIR against the Sahibganj doctors, warning that if coercive actions by the district administration continue, doctors across the state may not remain passive for long.
